Anole Snags a Bee

This series of photos is from June (in Leakey, Texas). There were two anoles who often hung out outside the library. There was a fair amount of vegetation on the side of the tiny library and most times I would go, the two of them would be running around in the veg. I went there pretty often and would sit outside and wait and watch for the two of them. They rarely did a no-show. I saw this one snag a bee with utter ease one time and luckily had my camera for evidence. It took him a while to get the whole thing down, the bee was pretty big.

Wow, quite incredible. Apparently, it did afraid of the sting from the bee.

Wow! Great photos. Question: Are anoles susceptible to bee stings?

The anoles I kept as a child used to eat bees. They always looked pretty uncomfortable during the process but seemed to pull through okay. Amazing photos.

Hello Jill! We were delighted to find your blog through House of Herps. We love the dinner photos! Lizards are tough to come by here in Wisconsin, so we're a little jealous ;)
