This is another one from this past season in Texas. It's a type of button cactus and extremely rare where I found it in Leakey. I guess they are not often found east of the Big Bend area (about 8 hours west). They were a scattering of them at one particular transect/field site of ours. So small, you have to be really careful not to step on them - some were the size of my thumbnail. I love when the red tubular flowers come out! Such a cool cactus.

What a fantastic flower. I haven´t seen anything like that before. Is it a cactus?

Have a nice day

What a pretty cactus, the red buds contrast so well with its grey fluffiness.
