The Crash of Waves

I took these a couple days ago on the North Spit (same day from the post 'Angry Ocean'). These two shots looked like they were meant to be in black and white, so here they are. That's some serious spray in the first one! Monochrome Weekend

Just came across your blog. Amazing photos and so many places you've been... makes me feel just a little bit boring! Sadly, at school, I thought being a biologist was boring - I was obviously very, very wrong. Looking forward to joining you on your travels from my PC.
Best wishes

A very impressive sea, best seen from safely on the shore I'd say.

I'm glad I'm not in that surf, but I do like to watch the surf when it's huge. You're right, monochrome is perfect for these.

Good shots. The wave in the first one has a movement about it that you don't normally find in surf shots.

Yes, these really are perfect in monochrome. That is an amazing pattern of spray. The sound must have them thunderous too!

Yes, there was a time when I could walk the promenade in Margate UK and see, and feel, the impact of the surf and spray. The same feeling is conveyed here - wonderful shots!
