Third Country Record!

On January 7th, Zac and I found a Magnolia Warbler in Castara on Tobago. Eh, a Magnolia Warbler you say? Not terribly exciting? Oh but it was! Because this was the third country record for Trinidad and Tobago and the last one was seen 40 something years ago. So, this was pretty damn exciting!!! for us bird nerds.

These shots aren't excellent by any means, but it's a record shot, so I'll take 'em! Hard to get a shot of too, since he was staying pretty high in the trees and it was so thick. I'm so relieved that I got an evidence photo! Such a sweet find!

Great find Jill! I would be excited to see one in California too ;-) It must be nice traveling to Trinidad and Tobago then capturing a bird that hasn't been seen there in 40 years! Isn't being a bird nerd great?

the bird is a beauty. It would be rare at my place too.
I think the photos are excellent. This is the kind of photos I like. Photos that are as beautiful as the bird.
