The Hostel

A lovely hostel we stayed at in Liberia, Costa Rica. And by lovely I mean sketchy, but it made for some interesting photos! Shadow Shot There were abundant cockroaches and the wall stopped about 3/4 of the way to the ceiling.
The hangers were hanging from a rickety metal thing (glad I had an updated tetanus shot) sticking out of the wall (no closet). There was also a rocking chair lacking a seat. There was some odd odor permeating throughout as well. It was pretty awesome. We laughed in amusement (and horror a bit too, I might add) when we opened the door. The bathroom down the hall was not some place you wanted to hang out for very long - holy lots of bugs ALL over the place! However, despite the peeling (probably lead) paint, there were some great colors in that little place and the hallway had all sorts of character.
I believe there was only one other person staying there. We payed, if I remember correctly, 16 US dollars to stay there a night. Good stuff :) You can see the one light in the room...hanging by a thread and not offering a whole lot of light. The Costa Rican Lonely Planet guidebook might want to access their wording of this place! I should dig it out and find the description, ha! So glad we had the sleeping bags because there was no way we were touching those sheets, yikes!

You've made it look almost romantic. :)
Love the shadowy hallway shot with its aged peeling paint.

The style has faded over the years, unkempt or really tired. Yet, the shadows have redeemed the lodging, at least a little bit, because of the shadow art...

I really like the purple and yellow paint, and the peeling worn look photographs even better. The best part...the coat hanger shadows in that closet! That is classic.

Great shot of the coathangers ... almost makes it look nice.
I hope the photographs made up for the accommodation!

The hostel did present quite a few "colourful" photo ops. What stories and photos you have to share! It was all worth it!

What fabulous colors and I love the old rocker, however, the sleeping accommodations would have kept me awake all night!!! Loved your narrative..LOL

The shadows of the hangers are great.
That hallway is interesting...

The shadows you found in this shabby, rather scary yet colorful lodging do make for nice art!
