Marsh Sunset

These are taken the same day as these ...The sky was all sorts of wild colors before I got these pictures. Unfortunately, the clouds covered the sun up before I could get to a good spot to get the photos I wanted (I was mildly bitter about this). But, even so, I like a couple of these. Like I mentioned in the other post, these were taken at the Arcata Marsh and I had to work pretty hard at not getting power lines, cars, etc in the photos. Ah, side note, actually the last picture is taken earlier in the day at Hookton Slough.
Soooo happy that it doesn't get dark at 5 pm anymore! Skywatch Friday

I was on the road today driving through Nichols, Iowa and couldn't believe all the pheasant I was seeing. With all the flooding Iowa has had the last few years, I didn't think I'd ever see them again. There must've been 30-40 in each flock and I have seen many single roosters, as I drive this road once a week.

I am also overwhelmed by the amount of bald eagles seen inland away from the rivers...it's a wonder I stay on the road, as many cool creatures as I observe each week.

You must love your work, the photography is fabulous! Let's hope we can get this pollution thing under control worldwide, what a boring drive it would be if I was alone out there!

I love the cattails! Drama in the skies used to scare me...now I hunt them down since I am distracted by the camera these days.

I sure know what you mean about being bitter when the good light is gone. I try to get over myself when that happens but it's very hard, if it was very beautiful.

You sure got some gorgeous ones. I got a rainbow today, but even with the wires it's good. At least I think so!

Gorgeous sky! don't you just wish you could just lay back on the grass and watch them floating away, all day long!

Jill: Those are some nice sky shots. The sky can be so interesting and is the reason we started Sky Watch Friday to show all the sky views. Very nicely done, you do have to take the shot because it can be gone so quickly.

These are great captures of a fantastic sky. The marsh, cattails and water lend well. Did good at omitting signs of human life and activity.

What a lovely area - and great shots.

I've just had a look at your web page - when the bird of prey came up my 2 year old pointed at it and said "yucky parrot" - think some education is needed there! xo

You work with what you got - OMG! the sun just came out! Sorry for the interlopation, there. I like these shots - they have a mood to them, but not a dark, brooding mood. I think they are intense, rather than dark! And I know what you mean about the light staying longer!
