Trillium!

The western (or white) trillium is blooming! We haven't been here in the spring so this was exciting for us. Beautiful flower. We saw about 8 or 9 of them. Also saw about 11 snakes and a skink (need to identify later). I picked one up but it squirmed quickly away the second I put him down. Twas an eventful little hike. Now I am off to go see some horses! Macro Monday and Mellow yellow, Today's Flower

Such pretty little flowers, but I'm rather partial to the mushrooms.

Beautiful! I especially like that last one! Nice, tight crop, and I know how hard it can be to get a decent shot of a white flower!

It is beautiful. Is that kind of mushroom edible? Happy Monday!

So lovely macro shots! I found the flower in Wikipedia and then I recognised it: Waldlilien, they also grow in our mountains in Austria.

These flowers grow here also, but it is a little early for us to see them. I think they are among the most beautiful wildflowers God created.
Thanks for coming by!

I haven't seen a trillium in I don't know how long. I had them growing in the woods behind my home in Vermont. That was many, many moons ago.

I don't recall ever seeing a trillium half open before - the thought of it just blows my mind. Funny how I must have thought they sprang up, fully open, or something. And the macro of the stamens is incredible!
