Trinidad and Tobago Day 10: Part VII: Hummingbirds

(Above: Copper-rumped; Below: Ruby-topaz)

I think this is the last post for T&T Day 10. The hummingbirds, who doesn't love hummingbirds?? We saw several more species than these, but these were the best of the lot, photo-wise. Go here for a couple more jacobins from this day. Color Carnival, Blue Monday , Bird Photography Weekly
(Black-throated Mango above; White-necked Jacobin (male, female) below)

(Black-throated Mango below - head's not in focus, bummer, but still an awesome bird!)

And very awesome shots. I love the way hummingbird's feathers have so much iridescence. This spring I'm going to put up a hummingbird feeder. One of my friends out here has had good success with attracing hem. Wish me luck!

Such beautiful colors - you've captured a number of these hummingbird images so well. I rarely see these birds where we live.

What a treat to visit your blog! You take truely amazing photos. Its great to find another nomadic soul.

My boyfriends background is wildlife biology, and while he does not do many biology jobs any more, he too has gotten into wildlife photography. http://northwestnaturalmoments.blogspot.com

These hummingbirds are just so beautiful! It is amazing all the vibrant colours that shine from them.

Such splendor in the dream of the hummingbird. What a wonderful animal to emulate which can go forward, backwards, and up, and down, and best yet.....to stand still in mid air.

To top it off, they adorn such wonderful costumes.

What a lovely variety of hummingbirds. The only ones I see here in Ontario are the ruby-throated ones. Alas. I won't see any till May.

These are so colourful!

I am drooling looking at all these magnificent photographs of the hummingbirds.

I, like Bob, am drooling also. T&T is on my list for my first tropical birding trip.

The hummers are all gorgeous (and superb photos obviously) but that Ruby Topaz is just unbelievable!

Your photographs are always stunning, the white necked Jacobin would have to be my favourite from this crew.

Can't wait for summer to see our hummingbirds come back out to play.

Your post on hummingbirds is awesome. They are my absolute favorite bird. Your photos are amazing. I am always amazed at how many brightly colored hummingbirds there are. Here in the USA we do not have so many pretty ones to see day to day.
