And Then There Was Sun

Another sunny day here on the North Coast (wheee!). As pretty as it was today, I didn't get many photos. There were basically no birds around and the glare off the ocean was intense! So happy the sun made an all day appearance though, very nice. Tides were crazy high thanks to the full moon a couple days ago and the waves were crashing hard. We went to Big Lagoon for a while and to Patrick's Point. Normally I can scramble around the rocks looking for the seals and oystercatchers and stuff, even at high tide, but today...whoa! I would have been crushed by the water immediately. (White-crowned sparrow on the bottom) Scenic Sunday and Monochrome Weekend, Blue Monday

Yesterday, we had pouring rain down here a bit south of you. I'm not complaining, our reservoirs need it. I'm glad you resisted temptation and didn't get too near those big waves. Nice sparrow! I'm so impressed you know the species; I can never tell them apart.

I always love coming here! You always have the most awesome photos and I love learning the identification of bird species I am not familiar with. I love birds but am really only familiar with the ones we have here in Florida and only a few from other places I have lived. Today my favorite picture is the first one!

In the monochrome, the crashing wave on the right really looks like a sea monster or a giant coming up from the sea!
