Nevada, I Think I Like You.

These photos are from day 2 of the 3,000 mile drive. We were trying to make good time but this spot (Walker Lake in Western Nevada) was too damn beautiful not to stop. So that's what we did. It's another example of why Nevada (minus the Vegas and Reno areas) just plain rocks. Possibly my favorite state. Scenic Sunday
We've now driven every major road across the state of Nevada. Loneliest Road is my favorite but this drive (95) offered some excellent stuff also.

Ah, yes! Nevada is a gorgeous state. The Valley of Fire, Red Rock Canyon and Lake Mead areas are just the beginning of my love of the state.

It has its places and times of beauty. The desert in summer with its heat and harsh light, I don't think I will ever enjoy that part of Nevada.
Today, though, it is still winter. Can you believe I80 closed near Truckee due to snow!

I have often thought the desert has a unique beauty all its own. These images prove that.

Beautiful. I haven't spent a lot of time there, but what I remember of it is the heat! Yikes!

Jill, this entry is grand and you are so right on, Nevada is a BEAUTIFUL state, one of our favs too. We also love Oregon coast, Colorado and Wyoming. The past two years we have driven from KY through Nevada going and coming to Lake Tahoe. Love the know capped mountains, and the beautiful valleys beneath, so majestic. 122 feet of now this past winter and counting~

Gorgeous photos! I especially love the last one with the flowers in the foreground and the snowy mountains in the distance.

I can understand why you had to stop and soak in the beauty and atmosphere - it is indeed truly inspiring

You have to have special eyes to see the beauty in such desert areas. I have only just "gotten it" a few times. Your pictures are lovely and, if I were on that side of the country, they'd make me want to try again.

The snow on the mountain must be enticing you to climb it. Away from the heat and dry desert.
