Snow in May

This is somewhere between Horse and Grouse Mountain (just a little over an hour drive inland from us). We went up here last weekend. 1.5 feet of snow, but 70ish degrees (about 20 degrees warmer than it ever gets on the coast). This was a pretty ideal spot we found off some closed Forest Service roads. Lots of bear tracks. Monochrome Weekend, Weekend Reflections, Shadow Shot

In Germany, in the mountains still snow, even in northern Germany we have here a small mountain, it is called "Harz" (resin) and currently it is again turned cold. The reflection in the reduced color is so beautiful and close that I think I can hear the sounds of the forest. I miss it so as to be in the woods, how nice that there are your pictures!

A wonderful weekend for you dear Jill:))

I can't even imagine snow in May right now :)

Beautiful photo!

Did you see bears too or only the tracks?

Beautiful shot. 1.5 feet? The bears must be bummed and ready for a vacation in the south.

That is a beauty of a shot there! Really like it. We often have snow falling in April and sometimes even May. You never know about Minnesota. Right now it is liquid snow. ;)

Lovely! Even the mono effect is beautiful. Can't believe it is still snowing in Spring.

Enjoy your weekend Jill.

The only way I want to enjoy 1.5 feet of snow in May is by looking at your wonderful picture. Great reflection!

Really beautiful! Snow can be so refreshing when it presents itself while on a uphill climb! Bear tracks...! Yikes! But, how I would love to get a photo of one in the wild...and, not from my car in Yosemite, or someplace like that. We had bear paw prints on our camping table in Yosemite. Apparently the guy was disappointed that we only had paper goods, etc. on that table. We heard him outside our tent and I was VERY nervous!!!

Wonderful. We took a trip to some mountains one June and the kids were thrilled to find snow. I love the reflection in this shot.

Well, that is pretty cool! Bear tracks? I would be a little intimidated.

Wow, snow in May. Beautiful shot. I have a friend in Utah that got a lot of snow off and on recently. I couldn't believe it when she sent shots of her flowers in snow this late. I like the shot you showed us here very much.

So peaceful looking! Snow when it's actually warmish outside is really special. (I know -- I'm in Florida now, but I remember the Pacific Northwest and Northern CA...)

Great Shadow shot!

The mighty pines leave impressive shadows on the Spring snows. The range in climate in CA is really outstanding!

Gorgeous photo, but please keep the snow all to yourself down there! There was supposed to be snow in our forecast today, but so far it's just rain.

I hope it melts quickly. I'm headed that way in early June to meet up with friends from Fortuna. We plan on riding our motorcycles down through the Lost Coast and Sinkyone Wilderness, then up around Southfork to Kneeland, Redhouse, Mad River Rock, Alder Creek and the list goes on and on of fabulous coastal mountain areas.
I was in a snowstorm in Northern New Mexico just this past week.
Fabulous photo!

Peace.
