Color Splash

(Kellogg's Monkey Flower above, not sure about the one below yet)
Some flowers from a hike near Nevada City, CA today. Saw some good ones, and also saw a Grey Fox and two more Alligator Lizards! Most excellent! Today's Flower Macro Monday mellow yellow
(California Indian Pink above; below is some sort of Lupine...too many in CA to figure out now!)

You've captured spring in the Sierra foot hills. It is gone now from the toe nails, just a few blooms remain.

Beautiful splash! I have always wanted to see a desert in bloom, but have never had the opportunity.

1. the BARELY blue but mostly white ones resemble Dichelostemma capitatum (http://calphotos.berkeley.edu/cgi/img_query?where-taxon=Dichelostemma+capitatum) but they are SO white!
2. I am wild about Indian pink--I used to work in a park near another park and they had I.p. and we did not and I was SO jealous.
3. I love the monkey flower (yes?) it looks like an opera singer belting out a huge note, mouth wide open.

Great pics, per usual. =)

Gorgeous flowers! I grew up in California, but I don't ever remember monkey flowers until I went with husband and children to Glacier National Park, many moons ago, now!

Wonderful shallow depth of field - the flowers look like they're floating!
