This is Norm

Some people have issues anthropomorphizing. I tend to not be one of those people. This is a Golden-mantled Ground Squirrel I have lovingly named Norm. He eats the seed we put out for the birds. I have no problem with that. He's caching this stuff like it's going out of style. Going to be an easy winter for Norm. I love little Norm. He's freaking adorable. When he lays down in the shade, I almost cry because of the cute factor. It's possible that Norm is one of the cuter things in life. Camera Critters

Talk about cute factor Jill, this guy must have invented it! He is totally adorable.

Not to happy about Mr.Black Bear's attention to your suet feeder though. I love them in the wild, just not strolling by while I hang out the washing or helping to pick strawberries.

I guess now is not the time to remind you that they carry bubonic plague, then? Oh well, so do we, I suppose! LOL!

Seriously, he IS cute. Cute as a button, and you're right, he deserves the bird food every bit as much as the birds. Everyone has to live.

Beautiful pictures of a beautiful little guy. Thanks!

LOL, looks like he gets so loaded down that he cannot keep his chin out of the dirt!

Norm has star quality. I'd have given him a name too. Mind you I do that with some plants too. :)

Norm does look quite lovable. I'll bet he's delighted to have found a generous friend with a bird feeder.

Uff! Way too cute! I used to love it when my guinea pigs went all squashy and relaxed like that. That little guy's like a cartoon, with those cheeks :D

Going to have to introduce Norm to Buddy and the other Buddy..two (or perhaps three) little red squirrels that believe they own our bird feeding station! All way too cute for their own good!

Freakin' cute! What an adorable visitor. (And no worries: I usually name the regulars, too.)

Totally adorable Jill! He does look a lot like his eastern cousins the chipmunks and I sure do enjoy their incredible antics.

Thanks for sharing your little friend.

My CC---She's not a NINJA turtle!! I do hope you can stop by to visit with me.

Have a great weekend.

He seems to have lots of character. One of a kind.

Hi, Norm! Love that name. I never saw a squirrel lie down on their belly flat out my whole life until I began to photograph them. And I suddenly saw them all do it at one time or another. Finally, I ran across a site that said that was how squirrels cool themselves in warm weather. They expose as much surface area to the air. I'm glad you gave us the name of Norm's species. I'm learning a lot!

I think you made a friend for life..Norm is lucky to get all that easy food. At first I thought he was a chipmonk! Cute photos.

He's so cute!

I've always been in love with chipmonks. Love to watch them. We do not have them here in Texas; but when on vacation in Colorado, watching the little guys was fascinating.

I think a character like that deserves a name. :)
