The Calm

Just about sunrise on Lake Tahoe. Can't argue that the actual Lake Tahoe is a pretty smooth looking lake, but sunrise is the way to go. Quiet, no people, no boats. Yes, please. I shot this at ISO 1,000. I think this is the only photo of the lake I took this season... Skywatch

Did you use a tripod at that ISO? I have tripod on the brain because I've been examining them. I've never used one, but hear they're valuable for low light photos. The melding of sky and water on your shot is fabulous.

Hi Barb, thanks! I did not use a tripod for this shot, but they are definitely useful in low light. I have a tripod but it's really heavy and i rarely ever use it. I have a lightweight monopod that doubles as a hiking pole if i want it to...that's what I prefer!

Beautiful shot indeed. The calm before the mad rush.

I have a tripod and a monopod. The tripod gets used around the house a bunch and the monopod goes everywhere with me. I have the same manufacturer for both so the quick-mount plate works with both.

Fantastic sunrise shot. I liked your shots of Yosemite. I've visited Tahoe and thought it was amazing. I've never visited Yosemite, but it's high on my list, even if only for a day trip next time I'm in San Francisco.
