Oh hey look! It's a Clark's Nutcracker! I miss these guys, they're rather goofy and quite vocal. This one was in the White Mountains, CA, hanging out with the Bristlecones. Lucky! These guys are big seed dispersers for high elevation conifers (like Limber, White, Pinyon, Bristlecone Pines, etc). Fun watching them cache the seeds!Camera Critters SOOC Bird Photography Weekly Blue Monday

that´s a nutcracker I havn´t seen. Kind of strange it is only black and white. Nice shot.
He's a very smartly dressed bird.
One I have never even heard of.

Beautiful bird and he stands out so well with that lovely blue sky behind him. Superb photograph!
I've never seen one, but neither have I gone far from my little Vermont. Nice capture, and such a strong looking beak, he has.

Clark's Nutcracker, Nucifraga columbiana, is a large passerine bird, in the family Corvidae.
Can be found in British Columbia and western Alberta in the north to Baja California and western New Mexico in the south.
- Cheers Gisela.
A proud, lovely portrait. I love the pine cone in the shot, too, and the blue, blue sky.
These birds are totally new to me. Knowing that they are goofy makes me want to see some in person. :)
I've never seen one ...is it a woodpecker...I will have to look that one up....

this is an awesome shot. i never get so lucky with our winged friends.
Great shot, such a pretty bird, dont think I have ever seen one!
A very regal-looking bird. Don't think nutcrackers are in Texas...not that I've heard of so you can understand why I enjoyed hearing its role in nature.
A great photo. Your description suggests that it is a very important part of the ecosystem.
Beautiful looking bird
...very cool bird and another I have to add to my travel list!
So neat...I've got birds on mine today too!

Blue Star at Nostalgic Marveling, please come and see? Have a great start of November!
This fellow knows he is the king of the birds. Standing there as at a attention and watching over the others.
I had never seen a nutcracker. I appreciate your nature lessons on Mondays. Nature is so great.
Very dapper! I would enjoy meeting him but I don't know if he shows up in Colorado.
great shot.
