No Mercy

Spied on this jumping spider a few weeks back. I was taking butterfly photos but saw him hidden in some flowers, going to town on this bug. I watched him catch it and then drag it away and gnaw on it. Pretty cool stuff. I had a lot of fun taking these pictures. He was fairly badass, as you can see.

Great series of pics!
Really appropriate subject for Halloween. But not for the faint of heart.

this was almost a bit creepy. I´m not sure I want the spiders to be so sharp. But...excellent shots. :)

He didn't seem to mind you watching him eat! And, as JSK said ... not for the faint of heart.

I'm not fond of spiders but this set was really cool. Excellent capture of predator and prey.

He certainly is relentless and seeing one so closeup is both amazing and creepy rolled into one. A fantastically detailed shot.

battle of the biggest wins? I am teaching minibeast and I found 2 shield bugs. I think over the week end, one of them has laid eggs.

These are incredible photographs. Such great detail on the spider. I feel like his eyes are looking straight at me in some of them.

This creepy critter actually looks kind of cute with its round bulging eyes. Amazingly clear shot of a bug that seems to have a personality. Life is cruel, though.

Extraordinary photos of the spider... can't say I actually like spiders... but the way you have captured all the little hairs... and the colours...

Jill, these are pretty incredible shots! I like spiders, but NOT jumping spiders. They are too difficult to keep track of when they are near you! eeeu!

Oh my stars! That spider is meaner than a cat is to mice. And I should know, being feline myself.
Great photos. You must have had a tripod or very a fast setting. My paws start shaking when I do machro. So I use a tripod and a timer.
Great post. But is this your P-post for ABC-Wednesday?

Wow, such a wonderful capture. You need wonderful observation skills to capture such tiny creatures. Lovely work there!
