Gunnison's Confusing Clouds Part I

These photos were all taken within about an hour or so of each other. I woke up around sunrise and went for a hike. I could see the clouds coming in then, but it looked like the rain was going to hold off for a while. Not so much. The clouds were pretty rowdy and the sky was a little angry. Some really thick fog came rolling in eventually. I just stood in the rain and watched it do it's thing. The canyon was kind of hard to get photos off, the light was never too great, so the dark clouds were welcome. Made for some dramatic landscapes. This place is pretty badass, had a ton of fun here. The Black Canyon is out of control. The picture below is not black and white. It was just that grey! Skywatch

Nice captures. Haven't been there in 30+ years.

Badass is the perfect adjective! I like how the mountains overlap each other forever.

You were on the edge of a front, nice to watch the changes.

Well, you were almost in my back yard! I agree that the Black Canyon is awesome, as were your photos of it.

I was there a couple of years ago, and the clouds and light can change so quickly. But that's generally true in Colorado, and much of the American West. Great photos!

Unfortunatly at my advanced age (69) I am not able to do the hiking I once did as a younger man..but I can still dream.
