4 September. Last day in Canyonlands. Checked out Mesa arch early in the a.m after packing everything up. Thought about doing one last long hike but it was now Saturday and the weekend warriors had started making an appearance. Our cue to get the hell outta dodge.
We drove to Grand Junction, Colorado and stayed in a motel. It had been I think 10 days since I last bathed at this point. Hmmmm you say? Yeah, it got pretty ugly but whatever. Doing laundry was kind of necessary at this point as well. Gorged on about 15 pounds of veggie sushi later on. Damn skippy!

Hi Jill -- I love Canyonlands. Great pictures. And the sushi sounds pretty great too ;>). We like to stay home on weekends and explore during the week too -- just because we can now that we're old and retired. But I think our speed is more like those weekend warriors than like yours! (We'll stay out of the way if we ever cross paths on a Tuesday or whatever ;>)
Beautiful vistas and close-ups. I really need to go and visit the southwest again (Canyonlands and beyond).
Superb Jill, geez, I too would have high tailed it outs there when confronted by the weekend hordes.
Absolutely great shots.
I have just been sent some lovely photos of amazing animal behaviour, wanted to forward to you but can't find you email address. Drop me a mail if you would like them.

I like the perspective in the first shot, the field is lovely (not to imply any of the other shots are shabby, for they are great too).
Hard to put up with people when you had it all to yourselves.I would have driven out to a watering spot. I take a plastic milk case just to sit on under a pump.Have you ever taken a mud bath?As long as it is clean smelling it works.I really like the mud peeling, it looks like a flower.
Hey! Canyonlands! In my southern backyard. We were just down there hiking around that arch over Thanksgiving weekend. It's a great time to visit. No people anywhere! ;)
What's that last flower? Looks exotic (in the good way, not the invasive way).
Great images, as usual! The last one is a work of art ;)
Yea, I'd rather work weekends (when I have to work) and play during the week. Yet being semi-retired, I like the shoulder seasons best. Next fall, canyon lands is on the list.
great wiew on the first one and the framing on top is perfect
