Colorado National Monument (Day 17)

5 September

Hiked at Colorado National Monument. Despite backing up to town (Grand Junction) and being the weekend, we got pretty lucky and only saw a few people on the hike. Tame meandering, didn't see anything too crazy or have any near death experiences but it was good stuff. CO NM is a pretty fun spot. Last time I was there it was winter and there was some cool frozen waterfalls. So it was nice to be here when it was warm. I have a black and white similar version of the above photo that some of you might remember. The one above is (obviously) without the clouds. Click here for the monochrome one.
Not a lot to say...stayed one more night at the hotel and got in some more pool and hot tub time. There were a bunch of prairie dogs (P-dawgs!) near where we were staying. Tried to snag some photos of the feisty little guys but they wouldn't have any of that. Just got one mediocre picture. I love watching those guys :) My World

Beautiful captures!

The rock formations remind me of ancient weather-beaten carvings in stone. It’s so difficult to get wild animals on the move but you did a good job of capturing one curious fellow. :)

A wonderful place Jill. I would feel quite at home there with the prairie dogs and boulders and comin on unexpected flowers.

The tenacity of flowers in desert areas is always fascinating.

Love wild flowers, we had an experiment, planting wild flowers, but they didn't last long. It was great while they lasted,
