It's so blue in here.

Eastern Bluebird(s)! This guy let me slyly wander up pretty close to him yesterday. He even threw out a few notes for me. Love how blue the sky was, matched him nicely. Quite the looker. Bird Photography Weekly
Side note...I think my 500 mm lens is officially screwed. Every once in a while it gets stuck, won't zoom in or out. Totally infuriating. A tiny piece of something must be stuck in there. But just a little while ago I realized that this time I think it's stuck for good. Had the urge to throw it against the wall...Ugh....I've been wanting Sigma's new stablized 500mm for a while, so maybe I'll have to throw some money down for it. Grr.) Color Carnival

Oh Jill, these are all peaches, what awesomeness the colouration of the Blue bird with the elements, mesmerizing in their soft tone qualities.

Now for the lens....tons of online sales going on right now and maybe Santi HoHo could visit you early since you shall have no need to wait for him to come down your chimney;)

I like your Bluebird of Happiness! I just took a photo class, and the guy teaching recommended this site for cameras and gear: www.bhphotovideo.com - I haven't visited the site but am passing on the info to you in case you want to price the lens you're craving!

These guys seems some much better than their cousins, the Blue Jay. Bummer on the lens. I can't image what one that focal length costs with IS. I recently bought my first 'long' glass at 200mm.

What 500mm lens are you using now (the stuck one)?

Great photographs! I, too, like the match between the sky and the feathers. I trust the stuck lens issue will get corrected in time. Perhaps it might be more cost effective to send it in for repair? Let us know how things work out. Cheers!

There is some magic about bluebirds, what a pity we have none in Australia. We really are lacking in blue birds all together.

Jill -- I am so amazed and so delighted and so jealous ;>)....
I'd be so happy right now just to SEE a bluebird. I don't think I could ever get close enough to get that remarkable picture.

These are such wonderful shots. To think I have only seen about 3 real live bluebirds in my whole life! The colors are beautiful. So glad you posted them.

Beautiful photos of the Bluebird - that's one bird I would really like to see. I bought the new Sigma 500mm lens earlier this year and love it!

The colors are really very cool - blue and brwon-ish in the bird and the backgroudn. Great photos!

I miss the Western cousin of our Eastern Bluebird. I used to have them breeding in my yard in Colorado. They make great neighbors. Hope your lens comes back on line.

We have to work hard to find these birds out here in western Oregon. Too many invasives are taking their nests away!

I made a lot of houses last year and spread them around my neighborhood. I hope to see a few in the spring, no action last year.

Ah, the bird that carries the sky on its back! Beautiful shots of the Eastern Bluebird Jill. I'm partial to the Western variety but I love Blues the best! What the heck are you doing back there?

Nice bluebird photos, they almost blend in with the blue sky and the leaves in the background.
