Lots of Mexican Jays (formerly the Gray-breasted Jay) in Big Bend National Park (West Texas). We found some snarfing and caching pine nuts in a wash along one of the trails. I was able to sneak up on them and in the process found some serious bear scat and some well defined game trails. No bear sighting though.
On a different trail, there was a solitary jay hunkering down because of the wind. (you can see he's all fluffy and ruffled in the picture below) I was able to get some full frame head shots as he posed for his glamour photos. I'm pretty sure he's a model.
