Ruby-crowned Kinglet

Look at me! I'm a Ruby-crowned Kinglet! I've got this ruby crown thing on the top of my head (look at the below pic). And that's why I am what I am. ..Well, there you have it. Photographed him in Big Bend last month. These guys are as hyper as hyper gets so I was pumped he sat still long enough for some photo ops. Kinglets are fun, lots of energy, like to talk a lot, ya know? World Bird Wednesday Bird Photography Weekly Ruby Tuesday

I am a-MAzed you got a "still" of that species. If I cannot quite see what is jumping up and down through the tree/shrub, if it NEVER NEVER NEVER is still and is the right size, I bet a pancake breakfast it's a rcki. Nice work!

Great photo of a very cute bird. I'm glad you got the second one - until I looked at that one I was asking 'why ruby-crowned'?

Lovely Kinglet and quite a bit different than the ones that I just shared last week. My husby had never seen them until last week and when he came in, he was so excited about this wee little bird that just seemed to flit from branch to branch and I told him right away what he had seen. Have a great week Jill!

this little guy is amazing. I'm happy that you captured the ruby crown. what a fine little thing. I'm anxious to hear it's song. I didn't realize what an art form nature photography is. a friend recently turned me on to someone (Howard Cheek) and I know I need a camera with a much faster shutter speed if I'm to even think about taking bird photos. Yours are extraordinary and unequaled. I'm still marveling at those photos taken at White Sands.

Adorable! These guys are so cool. Lots of charisma. And they're not too worried about people, which makes them all the more entertaining.

Excellent shot Jill. Hyper is an understatement with Ruby-crowns. We're lucky if they stop long enough to get a look with the bins!

...fantastic captures. They are hyper and hyper. I've never really gotten a good capture of one. I love hearing them and watching them zip all over the place!
