Squirrel Appreciation Day!

It was brought to my attention that today (Jan 21) is Squirrel Appreciation Day. Well, hot damn! How appropriate for various squirrel photos then, right? Mmhmm. I seem to still have a surplus of squirrely photos from this summer, so here's some cuties for you. (From the top: Belding's Ground Squirrels in Mono, California. Golden-mantled Ground Squirrel in the Ruby Mountains, Nevada. Eastern Gray Squirrel in Middle Tennessee) Camera Critters

They're cute. I'll give you that.

But as I am currently engaged in hand to paw combat with them for possession of my bird feeder, appreciation is a bit thin on the ground.

Ha! I love your squirrel photos. Especially that bottom one. A friend of mine is a tree trimmer by trade and after the fact he discovered a nest. Too late for the mother, but he raised the babies himself. Boy, did he have some pets. One in particular was his buddy for years and came when he called. I think squirrels are adorable. this morning they were scampering across garage roofs kicking up snow.

They are such cute little critters ... even if pesky. If I had known it was their special day, I would have looked for squirrel photos!

There surely is an appreciation day for everything under the sun! Cute little guys - when they're not trying to chew into my eaves!

As I look at the deep bites on my hand I forget about being mad, and feed the little guys too much.I am down at the lake home bound with 2 little rag muffins in diaper all weekend.

Your blog title keeps on putting a grin on my face each time I see it....so clever. Love those squirrels and love your shots of them. You captured our little babes in all of their glory. Happy Sunday coming up in the morning!

I like the curious little things. When we had our house and bird feeders we kind of enjoyed the constant battle of keeping the gray and red types out -- they're very good at outwitting any strategy. I enjoyed watching them keep on trying.

These squirrels are cute critters. Nice shots! The squirrels in our back yard enjoy taunting my lab. They hang out on the lowest tree limbs until Willie spots them and starts barking. Then they take off across the back fence with Willie running along below.
