cute little guys, they've been hanging around my feeder.
You might like the White Tiled Kite on my Around California blog. He's such a handsome guy.

We have dozens of them around our feeder during the winter, but they disappear in April and come back in October. All the years I've watched them I never realized that until last year. So this year I have kept track of the dates. I wonder where they go? P. S. They sing VERY loudly in the spring!

Nice! =) They are adorable. Since I first learned to identify them in San Diego, they always look like they're wearing a black and white version of a SD Chargers football helmet. At least that's what I told people down there when helping them learn birds. =) CUTIES.

Lovely, lovely images. I just ret'd from a week at Guadalupe River State Park but never saw any. A white-throated made an appearance toward the end of my stay. Sure wish you were along. There were at least 3, maybe 4, different wrens that I struggled to i.d. Big Bend is too far for me to access this visit to TX, but next month am looking forward to a week among the Loblolly Pines east of Bastrop. Have a great week, karen

They look like a cousin of the sparrows that I feed everyday.

I love these little guys! We used to have them in Oregon, which shows that they do well everywhere I guess. We used to keep a brush pile in one corner of our yard for composting and they loved that.

They are pretty little birds. It's interesting to see the color difference between juvenile and adult.

Cool sparrows.... they are so much fun to watch ! Did you take these with your Sigma 50-500 lens? I'm looking to get a good birding lens and that's on my list...would love to hear your thoughts on it.
