Whoa there, big boy!

You didn't think I could go too long without posting a ground squirrel picture did you? I thought so. So here he (she?) is. The biggest golden-mantled ground squirrel in the world...possibly. Whoa! Zac and I stumbled on him (her?) while we were hiking in the White Mountains in California last July. I'm not sure what that blob is it's eating, but it was from one of the squirrel's various caches. (we didn't feed it). This guy took fattening up for the winter extremely seriously.Camera critters ,Shadow Shot

That squirrel is well fed.

It looks as if this adorable mammal with the bushy tail has found his feast here and there. We would suggest healthy, as his girth (and wide shadow) indicate a healthy rodent. A cute capture!

I posted a squirrel picture too! If it were in PA not CA, I would think it was one that I had been feeding pumpkin to last month!

Normally I have very little good to say about squirrels who feast on our bird feeders, but this one is pretty cute, even tho, s/he seems a bit obese!

I always love coming here! What a rotund little guy. And an appropriate caption to go with your photo. Do you supposed squirrels ever have difficulty finding food? I think not. He/she casts a very nice shadow. nicely done.

Wow! You got her in action; and that pretty much looks like the only action she is interested in - Eating.

Wow, he is a big one-lovely shot though. We saw a young one the other day in the tree opposite, I don't know why he wasn't hibernating since it was still snowing and cold off and on then. Now its just windy and wet. Thanks for sharing:)
