They're back.

The Marbled Salamanders that is. As I mentioned before, I more or less fell in love with them (how can you not?). I got some comments about them being creepy but this greatly confuses me. They're like three inches long and they smile and have eyes that bug out. They're hands down cute! The two heads poking out of the hole are the same two from a couple weeks ago - only one came out this time though. It's obvious by the photo, but I did see both of them sticking their heads out at the same time. I waited about 15 minutes for them to get further enough out for a photo. Look at the dirt on their noses! Nature Notes
I went back with the macro lens this time and remembered where I found the little guys. Still hanging out, still being outrageously adorable. They smell like rubber. Weird, huh? I found a third salamander too, who I think was a female. Macro Monday
Shall I come? Or shall I go?

Don't want to be rude, but I don't quite share your feelings about them.
Amazing to get so close though.

They're a lot of cute but do have some creepiness mixed in too. :)

Cute little fellows, and great captures. I love them, but then I have an 18 inch lizard as a pet.

Jill, You amaze me. You get to see and experience the most fanastic things. Thanks for recording these little guys (and gals...) so I can see and experience them, too.

I think they're cute too. My (now-grown) granddaughter had two salamanders (not this kind) as pets for a while -- Sal and Mandy. Almost 20 years ago and I don't think we were so conscious that things shouldn't be moved from their home. We were simply entranced and delighted that our dainty little girl loved them. (She should have grown up to be a field biologist, but she didn't ;>)

Of course they are cute - how could anyone not find them cute!?! Almost as cute as my frog. Nope, I have to be honest, my frog is cute, but these guys win the cute contest this week. They are just so smiley and they make me smile too.

I really like them neither I find them creepy nor ugly. They are beautiful indeed. Gods creation huh!

You should be appreciated for this wonderful capture.

Glad you mentioned how long they are. I was thinking they were bigger. I think everything that crawls is cute...except Jerusalem Crickets, otherwise known as potato bugs. They creep me out to no end.

Jill, how nice to see your little cuties again. They are such loveable little creatures.

Minutes ago I raced outside to get a shot of one of our resident bluetongue lizards that was strolling along the edge of my rose bed. He was over 1' long but warmed by the sun he was too quick for me and disappeared into the depths of the lavender bush.
