Over there

Been thinking about Southern Utah a lot lately...this is from a while ago (summer 2008). Maybe I'll head out that way to play soon, hmm...been East of the Mississippi River a little too long. Skywatch

Love that red rock and blue sky! My son was in Moab last weekend and said it was still hot.

We just discovered Colorado National Monument on this last road trip, just west of Grand Junction CO. Like at little piece of the Utah Canyonlands picked up and plopped down in another state. A gem. You may be interested in checking my post of today - a black bear encounter video.

Beautiful view! I'm going through Sierra Nevada withdrawal right now...we'll be up there in November, however. Come %#$$ or high water!!! I really mean it!

Looking at this picture, it is no wonder you have sand in your shoes. I'm already looking forward to the photos . . .

Yup, great stuff. I went to Capitol Reef NP on my honeymoon (through different parts of UT, AMAZING!!!) on the slow route to Yellowstone. Utah just knocks me OUT. SO off the charts stunning and GRAND and OPEN and raw. Heaven. And you included a (presumably) dead tree, a personal obsession of mine. LOVELY. Haven't been there SINCE then (2000). Kiss it for me when you go!! =)

Maybe I'll join you in the photo-tribute and find a good shot and post it. Tho' that was before my Nikon days, so.... xo

I've never been there and I'm obviously missing a lot. I love those textures! What a breath-taking view.

Hey Johnny Nutcase. so you've been too long east of the Mississippi 'ey? ha! I sort of know what you mean I guess. there's something to be said for the beauty of the canyon-lands that lay westward. the colors are magnificent. happy day to you.
