Northern Parula

What a fancy lad.
This was a lucky, lucky photo. I was taking pictures of some other warblers (Magnolias, Black-throated Greens, Yellow-rumped, etc) and was a bit overstimulated. This guy landed about 7 feet from me and I swung my fat lens around and took this one and only shot before he booked it out into the wide open world. It's one of my favorite warbler photos. Nice reaction shot Jill! That's when you know you've risen to the status of a photographic gunslinger. Shots like these make up for the times you sit there with a patient bird, take a hundred shots and don't geat a one.
Wishing you many such great shots this 2012!

A lovely bird -- it's always fun when something lands unexpectedly close!

Great image! Love it when you manage to capture a bird shot just before it disappears!
