Yellow-bellied Sapsucker

I may have temporarily blinded myself at some point taking photos of this cutie, but it was worth it. He was pretty geared in on eating and paid no heed to me. I like when that happens. I also like his tree art. Camera Critters Sooc Bird Photography Weekly

Don't you love it when they pose for you!! Too often, they are flitting around and difficult to capture. Well done!

Beautiful bird. I don't see these often. You really got the details.

I've actually wrapped the trunks of certain trees in public parks and on clients properties to keep these birds from damaging them. You have to wrap the trunk and all of the main structural limbs with thick burlap for a time until the sap suckers get the idea and go away.
That said, I do think they are amazing birds, and are beautiful members of nature. Sometimes though there are just some trees that you don't want them to touch.
Nice Pictures!

I see these little sapsucker patterns all over on the North Rim, but never can spot a bird.
