Build it!

Found these Carolina Wrens building a nest recently and watched them for a while. You can see a spider web mess hanging behind one of them in the vertical photo. One of them got that snagged while trying to get it into the cavity and left it there. A Black-crested Titmouse came by and tried to snag it and some chaos ensued. Kind of fun to watch, though no photos of that episode. I couldn't get any great nest material pictures because they'd always go head first into the cavity and butt shots are boring.

Oh wow. you got some GREAT shots!! (As always!) They're so cute, and work SO hard to build their nests. We had a wren family that always built their nest inside the mechanical structure of our old C-Band satellite dish. We would joke that they built it there so they could get The Nature Channel for free. :-)

Magnifique! Even the most stubborn Scrub Jay would envy the eye-stripe on that Carolina Wren.

When it comes to speedy home construction the Wrens have it down pat.

Great shots, you capture the busy determination of this bird very well.

Great shots! I always forget to look for birds building their nests. You're the second blogger this summer to remind I need to pay a little more attention to them!

I adore Carolina Wrens, and you got some great images Jill!!! They spend the entire year around here and usually have 2, sometimes 3 clutches during a season...they are quite the busy little keepers~
