Yard Bird

This Greater Roadrunner (Geococcyx californianus) was outside the back door a few weeks ago. Nice!  Good yard bird, eh? He's got his pose down pretty nicely, but he can't beat this photo I got in the spring. Wild Bird Wednsday

Ha ha -- we know where your yard is if that's the bird in it. I love those crazy birds. A guy told us once that their Mexican name is 'paisano' .... 'fellow traveler'. We loved that (at the time we were full-time RVers traveling through the Southwest, so we felt we too were roadrunners!)

Great picture - I love to see one of these. I was well into my teens before I found out this was a real bird rather the just a cartoon!

The mud-wasp /spider post is great.

Thanks for the comment on my blog - I've been in Oman for a week hence slow reply!

Cheers - Stewart M - Australia
