These Black-chinned hummingbirds are from this summer, since I'm a slacker. I finally figured out all it took was a a bit of patience to get hummingbird flight photos and gave myself one of those pats-on-the-back kind of things once I realized this. (Patience is not really my thing, which is a problem with bird photography sometimes, mmhmm). I have a good collection of flight shots now, so maybe in say, five months or so, I'll put more up. Since that's how I do it. I wish the second photo had turned out a little differently, but I'm surprised the gal getting smack-talked turned out sharp at all, so hey hey, I'll take it! Beautiful captures!
Patience will come to you when you get older. Trust me. You'll have no choice in the matter if you want to remain sane.
you did well, never easy, but as you say patience is everything, and a bit of perserverance too. I particularly like image 2
Well done
Dave
Such sweet captures!
Great shots!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
Great photo. I would like to see birds like this one....
Great in-flight photos. Wish I could have actually seen the action in the second photo. They seem like feisty little birds.
Fantastic shots of the hummers.
Nice work. =) I hear you on the patience thing. NOT my strong suit, as my husband reminded me recently.
Yeah, well... Good for you! Today I'm printing out 8 1/2 x 11" photos which I NEVER DO, so that's big for moi. Just about regardless of how they turn out.
Looking forward to more of the teeny birdie photos, but will not hold breath (as 5 month breath holding has GOT to be tough). =) xo
Great shots of that tiny little bird!
Nice action shots!
Lovely! I'm sure you're being a bit hard on yourself with the patience thing, you got the shots!
Nice pictures - the more humming birds I see the more I want to see one in the flesh - one day maybe!
Cheers and thanks for linking to WBW

Nice work! I miss west Texas where it seemed every watering hole was abuzz with these little flying jewels.
Beautiful Jill! From the thumbnail , I thought it was a wader of some kind. Just shows you how good my eyesight is . . .
These are fantastic, especially that outstanding first photo! Hummingbirds are intriguing ~ so delicate and sweet looking, but holy cannoli, can they ever turn ferocious. That's quite the kerfuffle you captured!
Patience is definitely not my thing, either. Never has been. But I seem to have a lot more of it when photographing critters. A good eye and a good camera help too, and you clearly have both! (What kind of camera do you use?)
Aw, such sweet pictures!
Great shots from this wonderful little bird! I wish to have them here to get my own photos.
I dig hummingbirds. So little, so fast, so damn hard to photograph! Nice job.
I've never seen a photo of one of their spats, though I've seen it in person many times. Nice shots!
